TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei Songshan Airport taxis will reinstate an extra NT$50 parking fee starting from Jan. 1, according to airport authorities. This fee will be incorporated into the taxi fare, aligning with policies at other major airports.
As the New Year, Lunar New Year, and 228 holidays approach, a period of increased travel, passengers using Taipei Songshan Airport (also known as Taipei International Airport) should be aware of the updated transportation costs.
The decision to reintroduce the extra parking fee follows evaluations by the taxi fare review committees of Taipei and New Taipei cities.
Airport authorities have advised taxi operators to maintain service quality in line with airport regulations and inform passengers about the fee change through verbal explanations and in-vehicle signage.
This service fee, originally abolished in 2007, is being reinstated due to increased competition in the industry and rising operational costs as suggested by taxi unions and operators in recent years.
To enhance the convenience for travelers, the airport will also provide complimentary parking for the initial 30 minutes, offering respite to those being dropped off by friends and relatives.
