TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Representatives from various political parties gathered on Wednesday (Dec. 20) ahead of Taiwan's 2024 Legislative Election to determine the party vote ballot order through a drawing of lots. Among them were Kuomintang (KMT) nominee Han Kuo-yu and Taiwan People's Party (TPP) nominee Huang Shan-shan.

A total of 16 political parties are competing for seats through the party vote ballot. Han, the lead nominee for the KMT, and Huang, the top candidate for the TPP, exchanged pleasantries before the draw, highlighting their potential roles as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Yuan in the upcoming session.

While the two candidates didn't discuss specific positions, they expressed a commitment to cooperation. The KMT aims to secure at least 12 seats in the legislature, while the TPP targets a minimum of 10 seats. The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) hopes to surpass its previous result of 13 seats.

In the draw, the DPP received ballot number 6, the New Power Party (NPP) got number 8, the KMT drew number 9, and the TPP was assigned number 12. The event saw moments of excitement, with a reminder to maintain order issued by Central Election Commission Deputy Chairman Chen Chao-chien.
