TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Chinese Embassy in France (FMPRC) criticized a Le Figaro report on Tuesday (Dec. 19) for accusing Beijing of aggressive behavior in the South China Sea, labeling it as filled with falsehoods.
The FMPRC strongly denounced a report by Nicolas Barotte about China's actions in the region published on Dec. 14. Chinese officials called the report misleading, arguing that "a series of international treaties define the territorial scope of the Philippines, and the Second Thomas Shoal is not part of the Philippines' territory."
The FMPRC also expressed dissatisfaction with the French media's portrayal of Taiwan. Le Figaro's use of distinct colors on a map to represent Taiwan and China's geographical positions angered the FMPRC.
In response, the FMPRC stated: "Taiwan has never been a country but is an inalienable part of China, a fundamental norm in international relations and a universal consensus."
The FMPRC called on Le Figaro to respect China's state sovereignty and uphold journalistic ethics.
