TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Lai Ching-te emphasized the importance of fairness and justice during a speech on Sunday (Dec. 17), asserting the need to promptly address any issues of concern.
Lai made these remarks during his visit to Tainan, a DPP stronghold, where he attended a campaign event alongside incumbent DPP Legislator Lin Chun-hsien, who is seeking re-election. The event also included visits to the Taiwan Fu City God Temple and efforts to garner public support for Lai and his running mate, Hsiao Bi-khim.
This visit follows criticism from Kuomintang (KMT) presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih, who had accused the DPP of corruption and malpractice.
In response, Lai expressed his gratitude for returning to Tainan and emphasized his transparent and consistent approach to public affairs, stating that those who know him are aware of his stance.
Lai also highlighted Tainan's historical significance in supporting the DPP in presidential elections and called on the locals to continue their support, considering the pivotal role Tainan can play in the upcoming elections.
Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che echoed Lai's message, urging the populace to support the Lai-Hsiao ticket during this crucial period.
