TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A 19-year-old woman lost her life in a tragic head-on collision while riding her motorcycle in the wrong direction on the Taipei Huanhe Expressway early Sunday (Dec. 10), as confirmed by authorities.
The accident unfolded around 2 a.m. when the young woman, identified as surnamed Lee, collided head-on with a minibus driven by a 44-year-old man named Piao, according to local police. The collision resulted in critical injuries to Lee, who was pronounced dead at the National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) at 3:54 a.m., despite medical efforts.
Preliminary investigations suggest that neither driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. The precise cause of the crash and the allocation of responsibilities are currently under police investigation.
