TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT) vice presidential candidate Jaw Shaw-kong criticized the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) government on Sunday (Dec. 17) for not prioritizing COVID-19 vaccines for New Taipei during the pandemic peak three years ago. Jaw made these remarks while rallying legislative support in Banqiao.
Jaw recalled the government's refusal to provide vaccines to New Taipei, accusing the DPP of favoring cities it governed when distributing vaccines.
He emphasized the impact of such decisions on public health and safety and called on New Taipei residents to remember the central government's past actions and support the incumbent mayor, Hou Yu-ih, regardless of party affiliation.
Jaw implored the citizens, saying, "Do you all remember? There wasn't a single vaccine dose left unless you suffered from amnesia. Don't forget so easily; it has only been three years."
