TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In response to the anticipated surge in travelers during the New Year holiday, Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) will add eight additional train services from Dec. 29 to Jan. 2, with tickets going on sale on Saturday (Dec. 16) midnight.
To meet the short-term travel demand and manage the weekend crowds, an additional 12 train services will be available during the weekend of Jan. 5 to Jan. 7. These tickets are also available for booking that day.
To accommodate the increased volume of passengers during the holiday period, THSR will operate 113 extra services in total, with 53 heading south and 60 going north. Over the course of five days, this amounts to 853 travel services being offered.
During the New Year holiday, in an effort to serve passengers without reserved seats, THSR will provide real-time updates on station crowd control indicators on its official website.
The company stated that information regarding the availability of non-reserved seats at each station will be accessible to passengers.
In instances of high passenger traffic, THSR has called upon travelers to make way for those disembarking and to be cautious of the gap between the train doors and the platform.
Additional staff will be deployed to guide passengers with reserved and non-reserved seats, ensuring smooth operations throughout the holiday period.
