TAOYUAN (TVBS News) — President Tsai Ing-wen on Tuesday (Dec. 12) urged the international community to support Taiwan for three reasons: the island's democracy is a global benchmark, it is a crucial link in the world's supply chain, and its strategic geographical location controls vital maritime traffic routes, impacting global trade.
President Tsai reflected on the Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) progressive electoral success in Taoyuan City while stumping in the city for the party's legislative candidate.
In her remarks, President Tsai pointed to the presidential vote shares that grew from an initial 35% to 46.5%, and in her last triumph to 51.5%, marking the highest record for the party in that constituency.
President Tsai nonetheless highlighted her tenure's developments in the area, including the commencement of railway underground projects and the ambitious plan of integrating three railways in the future.
With the electoral campaign countdown now surpassing the 30-day mark, President Tsai referenced the completion of the first phase of her political blueprint, implicitly suggesting her desire for the party's candidates to remain in power to implement subsequent plans.
