TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In a bid to consolidate support within the Kuomintang (KMT), former Legislative Speaker Wang Jin-pyng emphasized the need for a united front and expressed his desire for the return of Foxconn Founder Terry Gou to the party on Tuesday (Dec. 12).
Wang also announced his commitment to serve as the national campaign chairman for KMT presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih.
His remarks came after a luncheon held at the C.S. Club in Taipei designed to rally resources of the pro-Gou faction behind the KMT's Hou and his running mate.
The meeting, which began at 11 a.m. and continued well into the afternoon, extended over three hours before Wang addressed the press.
Former KMT Vice Chairman Hau Lung-bin and former party Secretary-General Lee Chien-lung were also present at the lunch, demonstrating their support for Wang's initiative.
Wang stated that KMT chairpersons are more united than ever, with no past grievances left unresolved.
