TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei 101 unveiled a preview of its 2024 New Year's Eve fireworks show on Dec. 12 (Tue.), promising a 300-second display featuring 16,000 fireworks.
In a first for the event since its 2004 inception, the celebration will incorporate Japanese color fireworks, adding diversity to the visual spectacle. This year's theme, "Colorful World," represents Taiwan's vibrant society and hopes for a bright future, according to Taipei 101 chairman Chang Hsueh-shun.
In contrast to the previous year, the iconic skyscraper will forgo its giant display screen, T-pad light net, 60-second countdown animation, and lead-in video.
Vice Premier Cheng Wen-tsan, present at the press event, expects tourist numbers in Taiwan to reach 6 million by mid-December. Collaboration with Japanese pyrotechnic manufacturers signifies strengthened relations between Taiwan and Japan.
The fireworks show aims to enhance Taiwan's global visibility on the travel map.
Additionally, Taipei 101's Facebook page hosts a "My Wishes for 2024" message-collection campaign until Dec. 18, with public messages possibly displayed on the skyscraper during the event.
