TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Indian badminton sensation Raksha Kandasamy, who secured her first title at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Junior Championships in Cyprus earlier this year, expressed her admiration for Taiwan's top badminton player, Tai Tzu-ying, in a recent interview on Sunday (Dec. 10).
Kandasamy, a 16-year-old ranked 9th globally in junior women's singles, considers Tai as her role model. She made her debut on the BWF Youth Tournament circuit last year and swiftly achieved success, winning in Cyprus in April and again in Bulgaria two months later.
SPORTSTAR reported a day earlier that the young athlete is also committed to her academic pursuits, striving to balance her time between badminton and studies.
When asked about her favorite player, Kandasamy praised Tai Tzu-ying instead of her country's renowned PV Sindhu. She said, "Tai Tzu-ying's stroke play and deceptive moves are extraordinary; it's impossible for any player not to enjoy her style of play."
