TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Technical glitches disrupted the Taipei Dome during the 2023 Asian Baseball Championship game between Japan and South Korea on Saturday (Dec. 9). The main and side screens went black, which was later attributed to an unexpected system crash by the Farglory Group.
The blackout occurred during the top of the seventh inning and lasted for about ten minutes until the manufacturer resolved the issue.
The event had an earlier interruption when Japanese player Ryosuke Aizawa collided with the home run wall while catching a deep fly ball in the fourth inning. Aizawa sustained leg injuries, requiring him to be stretchered off the field for medical treatment.
In response to concerns about the wall's safety, Jacky Yang, deputy general manager of Farglory Group, clarified that the impact didn't break the home run wall. Instead, Aizawa's spike shoes accidentally cut through the padding at the bottom.
The group affirmed that the stadium design adhered to safety standards and assured that upcoming games would not be affected.
