TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taipei Dome is preparing for a public trial to test the field's capacity, expecting a moderate turnout of 13,000 people on Saturday (Nov. 18).

During a legislative session today, Taipei city councilors raised concerns about the Dome's readiness to accommodate up to 40,000 people and inquired about the schedule for relevant capacity tests.

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an responded, confirming that phased testing would be completed within a year.

The Taipei Dome, whose construction dates back to the early 2000s, has seen significant developments over its 17-year journey. Mayor Chiang announced the completion of the Dome's main building in April, envisioning it as an indoor multi-functional gym with a seating capacity of 40,000.

Mayor Chiang clarified that, considering safety, the Dome would primarily host competitive sports events. The initial phase will open lower infield seats, accommodating 13,000 people.

Additionally, the city government has requested that Farglory allow free use of its facilities while the Dome's operating permit is pending approval. With a parking capacity for 969 vehicles and 1,116 motorbikes, the government is confident that the Dome will effectively meet the public's needs for year-round events at the venue.
