CHIAYI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT) Chairman Eric Chu on Thursday (Dec. 7) urged veteran legislators to join forces with KMT presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih to fight for Taiwan’s future by supporting the party in the upcoming elections.
Chu emphasized the KMT’s efforts in nominating young candidates during a visit to Chiayi County.
He highlighted Chan Wan-chen’s run for the legislative seat in the county's first district, and put a spotlight on three female candidates from Chiayi nominated for the party's at-large legislative positions.
Amid a fiercely competitive race, Chan admitted to a late start in her campaign, which has her doubling down on efforts to meet and seek support from constituents.
She has adopted a mobile vote-seeking strategy that may preclude her from appearing alongside local delegates.
Chu acknowledged that Chan’s nomination came later than expected but expressed confidence in her due to her deep-rooted service in Chiayi.
"The people of Chiayi will support her," Chu stated, highlighting her commitment to the region.
