KAOHSIUNG (TVBS News) — Nearly 150 participants, donning dinosaur costumes, flocked to Kaohsiung National Stadium on Saturday (Nov. 25) for a unique race.
Sprint athlete Yeh Shou-Po emerged victorious in the men's group, claiming the NT$10,000 prize.
With the sound of the starting pistol, the costumed dinosaurs embarked on their race. The participants' varying approaches — walking, crawling, or falling and rising — infused the event with humor and excitement.
This weekend, National Stadium will host several running events, starting with the dinosaur-themed race.
The competition welcomed entrants aged ten and older, attracting over 100 eager contestants vying for the NT$10,000 top prize.
Contestants reported to TVBS that the dinosaur suits posed challenges, such as added heat and restricted vision, making the race more demanding.
The event's rules stipulated that each contestant provide their dinosaur costume and complete a 150-meter dash.
Hou Tsun-yao, Director of Kaohsiung City's Sports Development Bureau, expressed hope that such creative events would enhance the city's vibrancy. He aspired to see 500 participants in next year's race.
