TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The founder of Taihu Brewing, a 44-year-old businessman surnamed Wu, was arrested in Taipei City on Wednesday (Nov. 15) by the New Taipei City Police Department's Criminal Investigation Corps on suspicion of possessing cannabis.
The arrest was part of a broader operation following new drug-related intelligence reported to the Taipei District Prosecutor's Office. Early morning searches conducted across Taipei City also led to the arrest of a 36-year-old woman surnamed Hsu.
Wu was apprehended at a residence in Ren'ai Circle. Following the arrest, he and several other individuals were taken in for questioning. Authorities also collected urine samples from each individual for drug testing.
Individuals facing drug-related charges, such as in this case, could be prosecuted under the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act, as per Taiwanese law.
