TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) issued a reminder to passengers about disruptions to rail services on Monday and Tuesday (Nov. 6-7) due to a shortage of available train drivers.
Nearly 300 drivers have taken leave to sit for a TRA promotion exam, causing a shortage of 60 drivers.
Despite efforts by the TRA to schedule drivers who are not taking the exam to provide coverage, certain off-peak trains on the Western mainline and Eastern mainline, including local and fast local trains, as well as local trains on the Jiji Line, will not operate on Monday.
This will affect 63 train services, with 13 local train services having shortened routes. Furthermore, due to the shortage of drivers, 23 local train services on the Jiji Line will also be canceled on Tuesday.
The TRA advises passengers to make necessary adjustments and stay vigilant regarding these schedule changes.
