TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense (MND) reported on Thursday (Nov. 2) that the U.S. destroyer USS Rafael Peralta and the Royal Canadian Navy frigate HMCS Ottawa sailed through the Taiwan Strait a day earlier.
In a statement, the MND said that the armed forces had full control of the maritime and aerial dynamics throughout, with everything proceeding as normal.
Additionally, the ministry disclosed that it had detected 13 Chinese aircraft and eight mainland ships conducting activities around Taiwanese waters between Wednesday and Thursday morning.
Of these, five Chinese aircraft entered the Southwest Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). The armed forces responded using combat air patrol aircraft, navy vessels, and land-based missile systems to monitor and take appropriate measures.
