TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The popular Spice Market at Eslite Xinyi Store, along with three other beloved restaurants on the 6th floor of the bookstore, is set to close its doors to customers on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24), coinciding with the closure of the 24-hour Eslite Xinyi bookstore.
Having served customers for 18 years, Spice Market has built a strong following for its exquisite seafood, Thai spices, and gourmet dishes. Touted as Taipei's only five-star Thai-style seafood buffet restaurant, the news of its impending closure has stirred sentimental feelings among many.
The restaurant's owner, Regent Taipei, has not yet decided on a new location for Spice Market. However, they remind customers that vouchers can still be redeemed at other Regent Taipei restaurants.
Located on the 6th floor of the Eslite Xinyi Store, Spice Market, along with Just Grill, 1010 Hunan Cuisine, and Daylight, will all be shutting down on Christmas Eve due to the expiration of their leases.
The Uni-President Group, the sole landlord of the Eslite Xinyi Store, and operator of Taiwan's largest food brand, Uni-President Enterprises Corp., as well as the 7-Eleven convenience store chain in the country, is expected to transform the space into another department store. It remains uncertain whether the group will continue contracts with the existing restaurants.
With less than a month until the full closure of the Eslite Xinyi Store, the public is urged to make the most of the remaining time to revisit cherished memories related to great food and the comforting ambiance of being surrounded by books.
