TAIPEI (TVBS News) — To boost pet adoption rates, an animal rescue shelter in Hualien County is set to adjust its opening hours from Wednesday (Nov. 1), increasing the number of adoption sessions.
The Hualien County's Agriculture Development Department said that in response to the stabilization of the pandemic, it would reopen applications for residents to make adoption appointments.
The adoption hours are adjusted to every Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., with a session every hour and by appointment.
The animal rescue shelter, which covers 0.88 hectares in Fenglin township, can accommodate 330 dogs and 20 cats, tripling the capacity of another animal shelter in Hualien.
Chen Yi-cheng from the Animal and Plants Disease Control Center explained that the shelter would close every Sunday and Monday for park organization, medical treatment for animal injuries and diseases, and animal disinfection.
For information on making appointment visits and adoptions, the public can contact the shelter at 03-8421452.
