TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Department of Statistics, under the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), revealed on Friday (Oct. 27) that retail and catering revenues from January to September reached an all-time high, with the growth expected to continue due to changing seasons.
The statistics department noted that the retail and catering industries are currently at their annual sales peak, and the demand for clothing, skincare products, and travel during the autumn and winter transition is expected to stimulate consumption.
The department pointed out that according to the mid-October forecast by S&P Global, the global economic growth rate remains at 2.6%, unchanged from last month.
However, escalating conflicts, particularly the Israel-Palestine conflict, have introduced uncertainty. MOEA stated that its subsequent developments must be closely monitored and appropriately addressed.
The economic growth rates of major countries like the United States and Japan have been revised upwards, while the growth rates of other nations have remained steady.
Emerging tech applications, such as high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and automotive electronics, continue to grow, supporting the momentum of export orders.
