TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In the past year, 14 children under 12 lost their lives, and 9,293 sustained injuries in road accidents, as reported by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.
To bolster road safety for students, Liao Shih-kai, director of the Yilan-Longtan Elementary School, introduced an ingenious solution.
Each student was equipped with a school bag hood cover featuring a gray reflective stripe, offering waterproof protection and heightened visibility when navigating the streets.
Liao explained that the choice of bright green for the reflective stripe was deliberate, as it significantly improved visibility, especially in low-light conditions.
This innovative approach not only enhances student road safety but also brings peace of mind to parents.
