TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of National Defense clarified on Friday, October 13, that plans to deposit 6% of conscripts' monthly wages for their pension are underway and set to be enacted as scheduled.
Starting next year, the one-year mandatory service will be reintroduced for those born after 2005.
KMT Legislator Johnny Chiang raised the concern that, as the revised pension draft was only submitted for committee review last week, the two months left before the law takes effect is a tight timeframe. Chiang stressed the potential harm to the rights and interests of the conscripts if the policy is not successfully implemented.
The Ministry of National Defense will uphold its working principle of following the plan, asserting that relevant operations will start by the end of October, allowing for an operational information system by November.
