TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen emphasized the importance of transparency in flu vaccine information during the Municipal Administrative Meeting on Tuesday (Oct. 3).
The mayor shared information about vaccines in an effort that mirrored the COVID-19 vaccine distribution model during the pandemic.
In response to the escalating nationwide influenza condition, the central government reportedly purchased publicly-funded flu vaccines provided by four companies: Sanofi, Adimmune, TTY Biopharm, and Medigen.
The mayor explains that these vaccine brands will be available across all cities and counties.
Taichung City began administering these vaccines on Monday. Lu reiterated that all Taichung flu vaccine administration units must openly disclose the manufacturers' brands so citizens can exercise their right to information.
This public vaccine administering phase is being carried out in two stages. The first phase has already begun, with the second set beginning on Nov. 1.
Tseng Tzu-chan, director of the Health Bureau, Taichung City Government, suggested that all related information about public-run vaccine injection can be checked on the official Website of the Health Bureau of Taichung City Government or by calling local health offices across the city.
