TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Lin Yu-hung, a prominent Facebook influencer and harsh critic of the Tsai Ing-wen administration, fabricated threats against his life while denouncing import egg policies, the Taoyuan District Prosecutor's Office said on Monday (Oct. 2).
The revelation came just as Lin's fallout with the ruling party sparked notable social media unrest.
Operating under the handle "Lin bay Hao You (好油)" on Facebook, the key opinion leader (KOL) is notorious for his strident stance on imported egg issues, among other things. His recent claims of death threats have sparked considerable uproar in social media circles.
In conjunction with the Taoyuan District Prosecutor's Office, the Criminal Investigation Bureau found Hsu Che-pin, a suspect with ties to the Kuomintang (KMT), to be responsible for orchestrating the threats at the behest of Lin.
Some have attributed the staged threats on Lin as a political feud, while others regard it as a tactical diversion from the ongoing controversy over imported eggs.
