TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Chinese Taipei (Team Taiwan) clinched a historic gold medal in the Men's 3x3 Basketball of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, edging past Qatar 18:16 on Sunday (Oct. 1).
The team, which had previously quashed strong rival South Korea, credits its success to Lin Sin-kuan. In the championship match, Lin scored seven points, significantly contributing to the team's triumph.
Despite facing the Qatar team's formidable players and being down 0:5 early in the match, Lin skillfully procured a foul. His accurate penalty shots helped shift the tide, leading Chinese Taipei to capture the gold medal.
After their victory, an emotional Lin said: "The person I am most grateful to is my mother, who is in heaven. I hope that she saw this moment, the moment I won a gold medal, and I hope she is proud of me."
Meanwhile, in Women's 3X3 Basketball, Chinese Taipei fell to Japan 13:21 in the bronze medal match, finishing fourth. Despite the defeat, it is still considered the team's best performance to date.
