TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Health Minister Hsueh Jui-yuan said on Wednesday (Sept. 27) that all four major convenience store chains in Taiwan are on board with a pilot program for labeling the origin of eggs.
In recent days, there has been a surge in debates concerning imported eggs. After processing, these eggs have been labeled as being produced in Taiwan, leading to controversy.
Given this, the Ministry of Health and Welfare has initiated a pilot project to encourage manufacturers to label the origin of eggs that retain their original shape, like marinated and tea eggs.
The pilot program began on Monday, and the Ministry of Health and Welfare plans to run it for six months before evaluating the results.
