TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Tainan City Mayor Huang Wei-che announced on Tuesday (Aug. 29), that the city could declare a suspension of work and classes due to Typhoon Saola.
The decision is expected to be announced late on Wednesday, Aug. 30, as the city determines whether the storm meets the criteria for such a declaration.
According to meteorologist Peng Chi-ming, the typhoon, guided by a subtropical high, may potentially head towards northwest via Bashi Channel. Peng further stated that the storm might touch the southern parts of Taiwan, which include Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, and Taitung, by 8 a.m., Wednesday (Aug. 30).
This could trigger conditions sufficient for a work and school suspension if the wind and rain from Typhoon Saola meet the requisite measures.
