TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A manhole cover on the intersection of Zhongzhou Road and Zhongzhen Road in Tianzhong Township, Changhua County, suddenly began emitting smoke late Sunday evening (Aug. 6), drawing surprise and fear among locals.
Residents were forced into sudden darkness under flickering streetlights, stirring concerns of a gas explosion. The Taiwan Power Company responded swiftly on receiving reports and cited a burnt low-voltage underground cable connection as the probable cause.
