TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's #MeToo movement is sending shockwaves through the entertainment industry, where acclaimed Taiwanese television host Mickey Huang was one of the latest celebrities caught in the storm.

Huang was hospitalized due to attempted self-harm Monday (June 19) after releasing videos about his alleged involvement in a sexual harassment case. According to reports, he was discharged from the Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital Tuesday (June 20).

In response to media inquiries, Summer Meng, Huang's wife, released a statement through her agent saying, "Sorry to cause an inconvenience for everyone. We will not back away from the issue, but please give me some time."

The YouTuber "Zofia," who accused Huang of sexual harassment, also spoke through her agent, saying it is "a pity that Huang chose to face and deal with the problem in this way."

Zofia also edited her original Facebook post where she accused a man of sexually harassing her. She emphasized that she opened up to the public because she hoped there would be no more victims. And she wishes society to continue to care about the victims.

On Monday, Zofia posted on Facebook about how she was sexually harassed by a then-already well-known TV host when she was 17. She accused him of kissing her without her consent and forced her to take half-naked photos, saying it was for art purposes. Zofia didn't mention the name of the man she was referring to.

At noon, Huang posted three videos apologizing for his past behavior, indicating that he was the man in the post, and said his wife doesn't know anything about the matter. "I must apologize, and I am also sorry for disappointing the trust and expectations of many people," he said.

Huang said he has been feeling uneasy since the MeToo movement sparked in Taiwan and has wanted to become a changed man in the past, especially when he became a father. "I have done many ridiculous things but have also done many good things. Unfortunately, it is impossible to offset them," Huang said.
