ATLANTA (TVBS News) — NBA star player Dwight Howard voiced his disapproval of the opaque nature surrounding his contract with the Taoyuan Leopards, along with the team's reduced salary offer for the forthcoming season, during an exclusive interview with TVBS on Wednesday (June 7, Taipei time).
After negotiating with a single individual, Howard revealed that three additional companies benefited from his contract without his knowledge. Expressing his discontent to the Leopards, he was assured that the matter would be rectified after the culmination of the season.
"After the season, I received a contract offer that amounted to a mere 65% of what they initially offered me to join Taiwan," Howard disclosed. The esteemed basketball player considered this gesture profoundly disrespectful, as he believed his contributions to the team and the league warranted a more substantial remuneration.
After the interview, TVBS contacted Taoyuan Leopards CEO Johnny Chang, who discussed the abovementioned concerns, indicating that miscommunication was pivotal in these misunderstandings.
