TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan Foreign Minister Joseph Wu criticized World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and entrepreneur Elon Musk on Monday (May 22).
Speaking to the media, Wu expressed dissatisfaction with Tedros' explanation for Taiwan's exclusion from the World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva, stating that denying the participation of 23 million Taiwanese people is unjust and a significant global loss.
"Dr. Tedros should acknowledge Taiwan as an observer," the foreign minister said.
Additionally, Wu spoke out against Elon Musk's recent remarks about Taiwan's integration into China, emphasizing the importance of values and expressing concern over China's threats to Taiwan's democratic society.
In a Twitter post written on May 18, Wu wrote: "the CCP's bullying and threats are a concern, especially for those who would rather stay free and democratic."
The foreign minister also included a jab directed at Musk, stating, "Mr. Elon Musk, other than money, there is something we call values."
The Foreign Minister reiterated these points, asserting that the fate of Taiwan should be determined by its people in the face of China's hostility.
