TAIPEI (Sky News Australia/AP) — Taiwan Foreign Minister Joseph Wu said on Friday (April 28) that war leads to devastation and urged democracies to unite in preventing potential wars.
Speaking to Sky News Australia, Wu added it is crucial to "do everything we can to prevent war from happening."
He also set 2027 as when Chinese leaders said they would "have the full capacity of launching a war against Taiwan."
"And if [Xi Jinping] is not able to tell the Chinese people that he has established his legacy for the history of China, he might want to do something as a surprise," Wu added.
Later Wu urges all democracies to work together as authoritarian countries threaten the world.
"We believe in freedom and democracy, protection of human rights, and rules-based international order," Wu said.
