TAICHUNG (TVBS NEWS) — Taiwanese baseball player Yu Chang was crowned "Most Valuable Player of Pool A" at the 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC) on Sunday (March 12), igniting support from fans across Taiwan.
The 27-year-old Taitung County native has played baseball in the United States for a decade but returns to his high school alma mater during breaks to practice and share his experiences with the team.
During his recent practice session at the Affiliated Taichung Senior Agricultural Vocational High School of National Chung Hsing University, Chang's powerful swings caused damage to the artificial turf mat used for hitting practice.
The high school baseball team members expressed their admiration for Chang, saying they have watched him practice to learn from him.
