TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Tsai Ing-wen traveled to Penghu County on Friday (Dec. 30) to oversee a military drill, just 3 days after announcing the extension of Taiwan's military service.
Speaking at the event, Tsai stressed the importance of improving Taiwan military's equipment and training.
"In the future, no matter the training field, training methods […] or training equipment and weaponry, all will be enhanced and upgraded in both quality and quantity," the President said.
She reiterated her statement on Tuesday, emphasizing that only in being fully prepared can Taiwan avoid an all-out war.
"Peace depends on a strong national defense," she said, adding that the government will do its best in strengthening Taiwan's national defense.
