TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The National Palace Museum (NPM) in Taiwan released a report on Nov. 5 on the destruction of three artifacts worth nearly US$77 million, including a bowl from the Ming dynasty's Hongzhi period, a porcelain bowl from the Qing dynasty's Kangxi period, and a blue-and-white porcelain plate from the Qing dynasty's Qianlong period.
The report came amid accusations that the NPM had attempted to cover up the accidents. The museum's report placed the blame for the destruction of a Qing dynasty blue and white floral porcelain plate on one of its staff.
Due to the delay in the report of the incident, government officials from both the ruling and opposition parties have called for stricter rules in managing artifacts in the top museum. The officials also expressed hope that all past, present, and future incidents will be thoroughly investigated from now on.
