TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Tourists from Thailand excitedly left their hotels on Thursday to begin their trip in Taiwan, as the country's borders officially reopened. The travel group wasted no time and was among the first to arrive in Taiwan in the early hours of Oct. 13. These Thai tourists are making the most of their time.
They have a packed schedule for their 3-day trip with travel destinations ranging from Sun Moon Lake to Ximending. "I want to go to Ximending. I want to go and see if there’s anything good to eat there," one traveler said.
Meanwhile, Taiwanese are just as eager to travel abroad. Many lined up with their passports at Taoyuan International Airport on that day. Travelers are not the only ones excited as tour guide Liao Shu-hsuan remarked, "I remember clearly the last group I brought back to Taiwan on March 6, 2020."
"So, I was very excited when the company notified me about this tour group," she said.
As Taiwan reopens its borders, travelers arriving here will no longer need to undergo quarantine any more. After receiving four rapid tests, they can take public transportation to wherever they wish to go.
