TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The MRT Brown Line connecting Neihu and Muza districts suffered a malfunction at 8:31 a.m. on Friday, resulting in crowds of commuters stuck inside stations, unsure of their next step.
At Nanjing station, commuters even had to line up just to head outside to take other transportation systems. One passenger remarked: "They didn't let us go up to the platform."
"They blocked us at the entrance where we switch lines," he added. On the platform, train delays can be seen flashing on the signboards as all stations were affected by the systems' crash.
Due to the malfunction, MRT staff quickly directed passengers outside to the nearest bus stations. Some who headed to the information center to ask about the situation received one-time bus passes to help them get to their destination.
As commuters attempted to get to work on time, every station on the MRT brown line saw passengers waiting impatiently on platforms this morning.
