Tsai Ing-wen awards medals for Taiwan’s development

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Tsai Ing-wen honored Vice President Lai Ching-te and 12 other senior officials with medals on Monday (May 13), acknowledging their efforts in laying a significant foundation for Taiwan's development and leaving a global mark. 

During her speech, Tsai expressed deep appreciation for Lai's partnership, stating, "I would like to thank Vice President Lai for joining me on the road to lay an important foundation for the country's development. I believe his vision for our nation and mission for the people will bring more progress and change to Taiwan in the next stage." 

 


She added, "Together, we have left behind a 'Taiwan of the world,' and I believe that we will continue to strive for Taiwan in the future, regardless of our positions."

Tsai remarked on the challenging yet rewarding journey of the past eight years, which has set Taiwan on the path of reform. She thanked the recipients for their exceptional leadership and relentless efforts for the country and extended her gratitude to every Taiwanese, pledging her continued efforts for Taiwan's betterment in any capacity. 

The award ceremony recognized key figures such as Presidential Office Secretary-General Lin Chia-lung, Vice Premier Cheng Wen-tsan, Foreign Minister Joseph Wu, and Examination Yuan Secretary-General Jason Liu, who received the Order of Brilliant Star with Special Grand Cordon. Vice President-elect Hsiao Bi-khim, Defense Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng, and other distinguished officials were awarded the Order of Brilliant Star with Grand Cordon for their service.
