TOKYO (TVBS News) — The Taitung County Government hosted a tourism promotion event in Tokyo from April 10 to 12. Titled "Wandering in Taitung," the initiative sought to attract Japanese tourists by highlighting the area's natural charm.

The event featured indigenous performances, traditional attire, and videos that showcased Taitung's unique coastal and land tourism attributes. It drew nearly 30 representatives from the Japanese tourism sector who engaged in idea exchanges with Taiwanese peers.

The team introduced Taitung's specialty products, including Red Oolong Tea and hot air balloon-shaped milk cookies, during the gathering. This effort aimed to provide a multisensory impression of Taitung’s varied attractions, boosting interest among Japanese promoters.

"We have the ocean, plains, valleys, and mountains," noted Pu Min-cheng, director of Taitung’s Transportation and Tourism Development Department, emphasizing the region’s varied landscapes.

Yoshiteru Koyano, president of Nippon Travel Agency, lauded Taitung’s Land Art and the Hot Air Balloon Festival for their uniqueness. He indicated plans to craft detailed travel packages for Taitung.

With a population of about 210,000, nearly one-third of whom are indigenous, Taitung offers a culturally rich and diverse environment that enhances visitor experiences.

By showcasing Taitung on an international platform, the event aimed to broaden the region's appeal and encourage more tourists to visit.
