TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Tsai Ing-wen confirmed the appointments of the new Minister of Foreign Affairs and Secretary-General of the National Security Council during a meeting with a delegation from the New Zealand Parliament on Tuesday (April 16).
Tsai introduced the Secretary-General to the President Lin Chia-lung, as the successor to the current Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Wu. Wu will transition to the role of Secretary-General of the National Security Council.
The president welcomed the delegation from New Zealand, which included members from the country's four major political parties. Noting that it was their first visit to Taiwan, Tsai expressed her belief that it would deepen mutual exchanges between the two nations.
Addressing the challenges in the Indo-Pacific region, Tsai emphasized the need for democratic nations to collaborate in maintaining regional peace and stability.
Tsai also referred to the Australia-New Zealand Ministerial Consultations held in February this year, where the importance of peace and security in the Taiwan Strait was reiterated. She expressed her sincere gratitude for this recognition.
