TAIPEI (TVBS News) — During the Lunar New Year, a critical travel season in Taiwan, the demand for pet hotels surges, presenting challenges for pet owners.
This period not only makes booking more difficult but also drives up the costs significantly. Reports indicate that pet hotel prices can double compared to regular times.
Tseng Chi-ying, a manager at a cat hotel, noted that labor costs have risen by 20%, and the prices of cat litter and other supplies have also increased.
"Personnel costs increase during the Lunar New Year. Second, the accommodation capacity is indeed too full. To maintain service quality, we will have to add temporary manpower," said Tsen.
In response, many pet owners are turning to alternatives such as hiring pet sitters through Facebook groups or seeking help from family and friends to ensure their pets are well cared for in their absence.
