Tsai Ing-wen defends economic policy against debt criticisms (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Tsai Ing-wen, in a forceful response to opposition criticism on Saturday (Dec. 30), vehemently refuted claims that her economic policies would saddle future generations with debt. "I am very angry about such allegations," she said while campaigning in Taichung for legislative candidates.
Tsai defended her administration's fiscal strategy, asserting that her government's actions are not burdens but investments for the future, intended to improve prospects for Taiwan's youth. She stressed her commitment to stringent fiscal discipline and debt repayment, which has contributed to a decrease in the national debt ratio.
Highlighting her administration's achievements, Tsai claimed that her government has repaid more national debt than any previous administration in Taiwan, thereby reducing the financial burden on future generations.
