CEC confirms uninterrupted presidential debate broadcast (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taiwan Central Election Commission (CEC) addressed concerns on Thursday (Dec. 21) regarding commercial interruptions during the previous day's presidential television debate, assuring the public that the entire event was broadcast without interruption.
Presidential candidates Ko Wen-je (TPP), Lai Ching-te (DPP), and Hou Yu-ih (KMT) participated in the televised debate. Some media outlets using Formosa Television's (FTV) feed had reportedly inserted commercial breaks, leading to worries about the completeness of the broadcast.
In a noon press release, the CEC reaffirmed that FTV had adhered to the law by broadcasting the entire event. They also stressed that the full debate was accessible on the official CEC website and Facebook page.
Addressing online rumors suggesting the removal of ads or candidate speech excerpts, the CEC confirmed a comprehensive review of the claims had been conducted, revealing no irregularities.
