Vietnamese beautician illegally earns NT$1M in Taichung (TVBS News)
TAICHUNG (TVBS News) — A Vietnamese woman, who ran an illegal beauty studio in Taichung, has been revealed to have earned NT$1 million over six years through unauthorized medical aesthetics procedures.
The National Immigration Agency's (NIA) Central Region Specialized Operation Brigade apprehended the woman near ASEAN Square in Taichung City after uncovering her illicit aesthetic practice.
Having left her former employer seven years ago, the Vietnamese migrant worker acquired skills from a compatriot and set up her own studio, offering unlicensed procedures like double eyelid surgery, breast augmentation, and rhinoplasty.
The accused, Ms. Pei, imported unverified cosmetic injections from Vietnam through online channels and promoted her services on social media platforms like Facebook and TikTok, attracting customers from Vietnam and Indonesia with her low-cost services.
According to a press release from the NIA, she has been sentenced to one year and two months in prison by the Taichung District Court, but she has the option to appeal the verdict.
