Hsiao pledges to uphold Tsai‘s Taiwan status quo policy (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) vice presidential candidate Hsiao Bi-khim pledged on Monday (Dec. 11) to uphold President Tsai Ing-wen's policies, refraining from pursuing Taiwanese independence and vigorously maintaining the island's status quo.
Addressing a legislative rally in New Taipei to support DPP candidates, Hsiao highlighted that preserving the status quo represents a common ground for all parties. The Lai-Hsiao ticket, she asserted, will follow Tsai's path and seek support from the international community.
During the rally, Hsiao stressed that future foreign policy would prioritize stability and not succumb to pressure. "We are committed to the status quo, not out of preference, but because it's a global common denominator," Hsiao stated.
Alongside DPP presidential candidate Lai Ching-te, Hsiao vowed to continue and strengthen the robust Taiwan-U.S. relationship built under Tsai.
