TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan People's Party (TPP) vice presidential candidate Cynthia Wu's campaign office announced on Wednesday (Dec. 6), that it has been coordinating with the Central Election Commission (CEC) through a team of lawyers to handle the declaration of her foreign spouse's assets.
Wu's office spokesman, Chen Yu-cheng, disclosed that Wu's spouse is of foreign nationality and marks the first-ever non-Taiwanese spouse of a vice presidential candidate.
Chen pointed out challenges with the registration process due to pressing deadlines and complex scope, acknowledging that some assets could not be managed promptly.
He assured that all matters would be handled in accordance with the law, asking for the public's peace of mind.
Wu's husband is Belgian lawyer Reinout van der Elst, with whom she celebrated her wedding in Europe in September.
