TAIPEI (TVBS News) — As the 2024 elections approach, Huang Lu Chin-ju, the legislative head of the Kuomintang's (KMT) Taipei City branch, expressed confidence on Monday (Dec. 11) that the KMT is poised to win five of the eight constituencies in the upcoming legislative elections in Taipei City.

In an exclusive interview with media professional Anne Wang, Huang highlighted the KMT's strong position, suggesting that success in the legislative elections could boost momentum for KMT presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih, potentially rallying KMT supporters.

Discussing the competitive race in the Shilin-Beitou constituency, Huang pointed out the close contest between KMT legislative candidate Chang Szu-kang and Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) Rosalia Wu, with a polling gap of less than 3 percent. However, he noted that the inclusion of Taipei City Councillor Hou Han-ting in the race could draw up to 10 percent of the votes, creating a two-strong and one-weak scenario.

Huang also remarked on the Datong-Shilin district's situation, citing KMT's Yu Shu-hui's remarkable comeback from an initial 35 percent deficit in polling, now gaining 9 percent each month, which leaves room for electoral surprises.

While Huang expressed confidence in securing five seats, he emphasized the goal of winning all eight seats in Taipei City, acknowledging the need for continued efforts.
