Tsai Ing-wen endorses Lai-Hsiao ticket for Taiwan’s future

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In a show of strong endorsement, President Tsai Ing-wen threw her support behind Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Lai Ching-te and his running mate Hsiao Bi-khim on Tuesday (Nov. 21) via Facebook, describing them as "Taiwan's best choice."

Hsiao, also dubbed the "Battle Cat" for her resilience, faced both victory and defeat throughout her political career, Tsai noted. Despite losing her legislative seat in 2020, Hsiao took on a diplomatic role in the United States for three years and four months, honing her skills in international affairs.

Tsai highlighted the duo's impeccable teamwork, citing their shared grassroots-level political representation and legislative experiences. Both Lai and Hsiao possess considerable expertise in central government functions too, Tsai added, calling them well-prepared to navigate Taiwan through complex international relations.

Expressing confidence in their vision to lead the nation, Tsai reiterated their commitment to upholding the values that ensure Taiwan's democracy and freedom. She rallied supporters with the phrase, "Let's work together in unity for the country's future."

The president's optimism is rooted in the belief that the pair can propel Taiwan onto the international stage, ensuring that the nation continues along the right path. Her post came as a heartfelt call to voters to stand by her favorite candidates, who she believes represent Taiwan's determination to continue its democratic journey.
