TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A Taipei City councilor from the Taiwan People's Party (TPP) criticized the Taipei City Government on Friday (Nov. 10) for its alleged failure to address online ticket scalping. This issue came to light with the reselling of tickets for the inaugural test match at the Taipei Dome, where tickets, originally free, were being sold online for as much as NT$600.

The test match, set for Nov. 18, saw its 13,000 tickets sell out in just 60 seconds.

TPP Councilor Chen You-cheng reported receiving numerous public complaints, raising concerns about the oversight mechanism of the Taipei City Government and its control over Farglory, the Dome's operator. He questioned whether the authorities were inadvertently allowing illegal activities to occur.

Chen also highlighted that the city government reported 505 cases of ticket scalping from June to October this year, yet no actions were taken against the offenders. He criticized this lack of enforcement, calling it a clear dereliction of duty.

With the recurrence of scalped ticket sales for the Dome's test match, Chen expressed dismay at the city government's apparent indifference to enforcing punitive measures against these violations.
